People often forget that our skin is our largest organ, therefore they leave it out of the picture when they’re changing to a green and/or organic lifestyle. The skin absorbs EVERYTHING! It is so important to make sure that you are using all green and organic ingredients! If you can’t pronounce it or eat it; you shouldn’t be putting it on your skin!

Let’s go over a few of the scary ingredients that are often lurking in your hair products!

Fragrance:

Short term toxicity can include skin irritation, coughing, headaches, nausea, and rash. Long term toxicity can include heart disease, cancer, and reproductive issues. Up to 95% of fragrance is derived from petroleum. Not only is fragrance in your hair products, it is in scented candles, fragrance oils, perfumes, and lotions.

Triclosan:

Topical absorption of Triclosan has shown disturbances in the endocrine system and is believed to cause birth defects and uncontrollable cell growth.

Formaldehyde:

Is a known carcinogen and recognized as such by the Cancer Institute. Exposure can cause skin irritations, headaches, nausea, asthmatic response, and eye irritation. Unfortunately, this ingredient is not listed as ‘Formaldehyde’ on the ingredient list, it is normally hidden by words such as, Tosylamide, Melamine, Sodium hydroxymethane, sulfonate, and Bisphenol A are just to name a few.

Pthalates:

Another endocrine disrupting chemical that in lab studies has shown to interfere with hormone production in rats and mimic estrogen in human studies. Bis phthalate, diethyl phthalate, di butyl phthalate, and butyl benzyl phthalate are just to name a few. They are found in skin moisturizers, fragrance, cleaners, nail polish, lotions, hair products, and plastic food packaging.

Now that we’ve covered some of the dangers lurking in your common store personal care products, let’s talk about the good stuff!

In our recipe, we include only pure, raw, and organic ingredients! You will feel soo good about making this hair styling spritz! The combination of Pink Himalayan Salt, Epsom Salt, and Organic Vodka give your hair a nice style lasting power. The combination of essential oils that we use are all known for great hair and follicle support! Did we mention that the smell is heavenly?? You’ll fall in love with it!

Rock Your Locks Hair Spritz

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Heat water over low heat; do not boil.
  2. In a glass spray bottle; using a funnel, combine salts, vodka, and water. Shake until salts are dissolved.
  3. Add all essential oils; shake well. Place spray top on bottle securely.
  4. Before each use, shake well; spray on wet hair before blow drying and styling.
  5. Enjoy!
