organic electrolyte drink

Unfortunately, we are in the lovely cold and flu season.  A couple of days ago, we posted how we beat the winter crud naturally.  In our post, we gave you our homemade version of children’s pedialyte.  Today, we wanted to share our organic homemade version of the infamous Gatorade sports drink.

Have you read the ingredient list for Gatorade??  Yuck, it should send you screaming to your kitchen to make your own electrolyte drink.   Their ingredient list includes: Water, sugar, dextrose, citric acid, salt, natural flavors, sodium citrate, monopotassium phosphate, gum arabic, ester gum, colour.  We always tell everyone that if we cannot pronounce it or if you cannot find it in your kitchen pantry, you shouldn’t put it in your body!

When you’re sick or if you’re feeling sick, it’s time to load your body up with electrolytes.  Electrolytes are present in the human body, and the balance of the electrolytes in our bodies is essential for normal function of our cells and our organs.  Sodium, calcium, chloride, magnesium and potassium are the most common electrolytes in the human body. They’re essential for many heart, nerve and muscle functions. They also play an important role in keeping fluid levels normal in different body compartments.

Not only will you feel at ease with our organic ingredients, you will also love how good they taste!

Not only do we replenish our body when we’re feeling sick with our electrolyte drink, we also like to drink it after our workouts!

We are sharing two of our favorite flavors with you today; Orange and Lemon-Lime.
