hot chocolate

Happy Sunday afternoon friends!  We hope you are having a wonderful, restful day!  Our temperatures warmed up a little bit throughout the night and this morning, but is slowly working it’s way back to being cold again.  We’re feeling a little chilled and thought we would share one of our favorite family recipes for homemade organic hot chocolate!

Our homemade organic hot chocolate is so soothing and warming to the body!  Our daughters just love it!  We like to mix it up and serve it with organic raw cream at times and other times with homemade organic marshmallows.  Today, we made our hot chocolate with raw organic cream.

Before we get to the actual recipe, we would like to give you the recipe for creating your own homemade hot chocolate mix and homemade whipped cream.

Organic Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix:

1/2 C Organic Cocoa
1 C Organic Evaporated Cane Juice (We have also used Organic Raw Turbinado)

Add the cocoa and sugar to a pint jar and give it a good shake to mix it well.  You will now have hot chocolate mix at your fingertips!

Organic Homemade Whipped Cream

1 Pint Raw Organic Cream
1 TBSP Organic Maple Syrup or 2 TBSP Organic Powdered Sugar
1 tsp Organic Vanilla

Place all ingredients in Vitamix and process until liquid turns to whipped cream.  You can also whip this using a hand mixer or stand mixer – use whisk adjustment and place on high speed to whip.  We like to put our glass food container in the freezer to ensure the whipped cream does not start to melt on us.

So, now that you have your homemade hot chocolate mix and homemade whipped cream, you are ready to make your Hot Chocolate!

8-10 oz Raw Organic Milk (Per person)
1 Rounded TBSP Organic Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix (Per Person)
1 Scoop Homemade Organic Whipped Cream (Per Person)

Method:

Place Raw Organic Milk and Hot chocolate mix in Vitamix and blend.  Add your blended mix to a small saucepan and cook until it just starts to bubble.  (If you do not have a Vitamix or blender, just warm the milk in a small saucepan, once the milk just starts to bubble, remove from the heat and add your hot chocolate mix.)  Remove pan from heat.  Pour hot chocolate into your mugs and add 1 scoop of homemade organic whipped cream and enjoy!

We hope that you and your loved ones enjoy this recipe as much as our family does!  Please let us know how your recipe turned out on our Facebook page:  www.facebook.com/ourorganichome
