chemical free gardening

Hooray!  Spring is here and that means that it is time to get your hands in the dirt and grow a multitude of organic fruits and vegetables!

Have you started your seeds indoors yet?  Not sure where to find organic, non-GMO seeds at?  We’re going to help get you started on growing an all organic garden!

First things first, where to buy organic, non-GMO seeds.  We have had great luck with buying organic seeds from High Mowing Seed Company and Seeds of Change.

Once you have grown your foods from your organic seeds, you will start to save those seeds instead of buying new seeds.  You will be amazed at how many seeds you can save from just one packet of purchased organic seeds.

We personally have our garden set up as the Garden of Eden.  The Garden of Eden is filled with organic dirt and then organic mulch is put on top of the dirt.  The Garden of Eden will reduce the amount of watering because the mulch holds the water in and also will reduce your weeds.  It is wonderful!

Let’s talk about chemical-free weed control.  We use organic white vinegar, Thieves dish soap, Epsom salt, and water for our weed control.  This method works better and is 200% safer than any chemical use.

Forget about using unsafe chemicals for pest control, they are simply not needed.

Application for Spraying:  Add 4-5 drops of essential oil to 32 oz of water.  Spray on flowers, vegetable plants, fruit plants, and fruit trees to control garden pests, to control mold and mildew, and to promote healthy growth.

Attract Pollinators:  You can also use essential oils to attract pollinators to your garden.  Apply 4 drops of lavender, sage, or fennel around your garden to attract more butterflies and the all-might important honey bee.

Deter Animals:  We also like to use our essential oils to deter animals from entering our garden.  With a few drops of black pepper essential oil added to some fabric and strung around the garden will help to keep deer and rabbits out of your garden.

Bugs Be Gone:  Keep yourself bug free while working out in your garden.
